Writing Meme

Danika, Victoria, and JM each tagged me for the Lucky 7 Meme. Instead of saddling everyone with 3 different excerpts, I hope that it is okay that I provide just one.

Here are the rules:

Open your novel-in-progress and do the following:

1. Go to page 77.

2. Go to line 7.

3. Copy down the next 7 lines, sentences, or paragraphs as they are written.

4. Tag 7 new authors.

“What’s she looking for?” Ben asked.

“Some stuff of your dad’s,” Sean answered.

“I put his stuff in the basement. She knew that.”

Sean stopped working, looking stumped. “Oh. Well, this is where she sent me.”

“There are a bunch of boxes in the basement with his name on them.” Ben frowned. He had trouble understanding how Sean would not have known this if he’d been working around the house for almost a year.

Sean had already returned to his work. He picked up a paint can. “Oh, hey! Look at this. I bet this is the paint your mother was talking about.” Sean turned to Ben, grinning. “She wanted to match the colors in her bedroom.”

Ben shook his head, wondering how Sean could get so excited over a damn can of paint. Shit, maybe that’s what his life amounted to. Finding the exact paint match. Goes to show you what happens when your life stalls out, Ben thought meanly.

Now for the tagging. If you’ve already been tagged for this and I’ve tagged you again, don’t feel obligated to participate. But if you want to, then go for it! And of course, don’t feel like you have to participate if I did tag you…
