Awards in Rhyme

I am terribly behind with accepting these awards and passing them on. I am not a procrastinator by nature, but I wanted to find an original way to announce the awards. Unfortunately, my efforts struggled miserably and for one rhyme, I asked for help from my daughter…ahem.  Okay, several rhymes, but who’s keeping track?

As seems to be the going trend, I have fudged the rules a bit. I nominated only 3 bloggers per award, and I answered questions to only one award. Otherwise, you’d be spending all day on my blog, and as much as I love the attention I know we all have other things to do!

Please know that no one is obligated to accept or pass on these awards. If I have given you an award that you already have, my apologies!

  1. Thank you so much for the One Lovely Blog award – it’s one I don’t have! The nominating bit is the hardest isn’t it because you feel bad about who you leave out, that’s why last time I did a round of just accepting but not nominating, but then I felt bad about leaving EVERYONE out, haha.

    • Oh my gosh, that’s so funny because I think I spent hours trawling through blogs trying to see who had what award and trying not to duplicate awards. But not everyone has them posted, and I really wasn’t about to do a ‘search’, so I winged it. Wung it? Anyway, yes, I agree, the passing them on is difficult because you don’t want to hurt feelings.

Thankfully these awards seem to make the rounds on a regular basis and there are so many of them, that it’s easy to take turns with our nominees!

      Enjoy!

      • Congratulations, Kate! (And to Vanessa, too!)

I admit I’m one of those people who hasn’t posted my award. Nonetheless, I’m grateful you even considered me for the Beautiful Blogger award, considering you already follow such interesting, insightful others. :) I will be sure to update my site with the award image, now!

  2. Congratulations on all the awards—they are all well-deserved! :) And thank you for the shout-out. I’m truly flattered when other bloggers think enough of my posts to nominate me. :)

    • Thank you. And you’re welcome. I always appreciate every single comment that’s ever made on my post, but especially the people who are consistently there, reading and commenting. Without my regulars, I probably wouldn’t still be blogging. :)

    • Oh wow, you remembered my fetish for IPAs. You’ve got a great memory! Funnily enough, I have one chilling in the freezer as I write this.

Thanks, Kathryn. You have a great week!

  3. Wow! You are the award queen! Congrats and thanks for passing along an award. They are fun (especially when you can fudge–which I am an expert at doing–and suit the rules to fit you and your own time contraints.) I’ll have to check out your nominees, since I’m not the best at finding sites on my own.

    • Haha, I shouldn’t have stockpiled these since May–but time got away from me. I enjoy them, but part of what takes me so long to get around to them is choosing recipients, because I want to make sure I’m not duplicating awards and such.

Hope you find some sites you’ll enjoy!

      • I hear you! I’m the same with waiting forever and then pounding my brain to come up with new recipients (I don’t just want to pick random blogs for the heck of it).

      • And then the problem with waiting so long is someone else beats me to the punch and gives the same award to the blogger I was thinking of! (That happened to me twice!)

  4. Excellent post. I really enjoyed the way you handled the awards. They are wonderful with regards to the reasons why, but the time and effort required with reference to the rules can be daunting when you have a limited schedule and you’d rather be blogging or connecting with other bloggers as time permits. I was beginning to feel like a hoarder with a hidden stash of awards, and guilty for not staying on top of them. Thanks I feel much better now! :)

    • Hi Penny,
Me too! I hated seeing that I was sitting on these awards since May. I really do enjoy the exchange of awards, plus it’s a wonderful way to visit new blogs I otherwise might miss. But they are time consuming for me, mainly because I try to give all of my commenters a ‘turn’, plus I try to avoid duplicating as best I can. Although that seems to be getting more and more difficult.

Thanks so much for swinging by and saying hi!

  5. Hey there, lady!
Thanks for the nom – I do have the versatile blogger award already, so won’t be doing it again (thanks so much for thinking of me, though!), but I wanted to give you a high five for making your own version of the rules…I’ve got a small garden of awards growing in my ‘to do’ box as well and will be doing something similar :) Congrats on your very well deserved awards and wishing you a marvelous remainder of the season! xo

    • You’re quite welcome. I figured somewhere along the line I’d be duplicating an award. To me, it’s more about recognizing wonderful blogs and sharing with other bloggers. Thank you for your congrats. And yes, rule bending is necessary sometimes! :)

      Take care!

  6. Ooo, lovely thank you so much!

I can’t remember having comments here, so I’m doing it now. Thank you for thinking of me and the shout out; its always warming to realise you enjoy my blog enough to do so.

I certainly know all about hoarding awards too; sometimes its hard to keep track and find time so I’m sure everyone understands.

As for me, I’m not sure when I’ll get to write this up, but I’ll endeavour to do it sooner than the last lot. :-)
