Well, when I said I was taking the summer off from blogging I guess I meant it. I really thought that I’d be able to visit you all upon occasion, but that didn’t happen. In fact, Life filled my old blogging time so fast I honestly don’t know how I blogged routinely in the first place.
First things first – how is everyone? I hope you all had a great summer (or winter, depending on where you live). What news did I miss? I expect to be visiting you all as soon as possible, but please forgive me if I am out of the loop. Don’t be afraid to catch me up!
As for me, not much is different from the last time I posted. I did work on my new novel. I tried to market my freelance business. I spent all of my waking hours with my children. I attended a family reunion in Texas. We entertained family from Portugal and California.
Now, the school year has launched, and I’m faced with the dreaded task of restructuring my daily calendar. Kids’ schedules as well as my schedule have changed considerably. The time slot where I used to blog/tweet/FB/email is now dedicated to another commitment. The kids are busier with activities/sports. Me-time is more limited, teetering precariously at the end of the day when any number of interruptions are to be expected.
The “experts” say that it’s important to blog on the same day every week so followers know when to expect posts. During the autumn, I can stick to the same day of the week (Mondays), but not so sure I can post every week faithfully.
Here’s a tentative plan:
4amWriter: I plan to post weekly, but one week out of each month I will post instead at Limebird (see below). I will continue to post articles on the trials and tribs of a working stay-at-home mother/writer/ninja, with the occasional human-interest story such as worms or family.
Limebird Writers: Once a month at Limebird, I’ll post a writing-oriented article. This is a fantastic, fun, savvy, sometimes quirky site from writers for writers. If you haven’t stopped by and chimed in, you’re missing out.
Musefly Writing Studio: The latest endeavor –my freelance writing coach website. I’ll be posting articles every 2 weeks (depending on how intelligent I’m feeling), focusing on grammar, writing, and storybuilding advice, and other helpful tidbits and news. Musefly isn’t so much a blog as it is a resource for writers. However, I do have the comment function activated so please feel free to comment on anything I post. I love the company.
Twitter/FB/LinkedIn/Email/Etc. – nothing definitive other than an attempt at bossing them around for once.
So, there you have it. My social media plans. Pray for me.
What have you been doing with social media lately?
