Today, I’d like to make some grand additions to my Bloggers Between the Covers page. If you’re new to 4am Writer, Bloggers Between the Covers is my way of helping shine a spotlight on authors who I have gotten to know through blogging.
I wish I could buy every book out there. Heck, I wish I could read even half as many. But, I can’t, so instead, I posted this page to give a shout-out to my favorite people on the internet — my blogging pals.
Take a look through some of these books and read about the authors behind the stories. Hopefully, one or two or all of them will tickle your fancy and you’ll buy a copy.
And without further ado, I present to you ….
Britt Skrabanek is out with her third novel! Holy cats, this girl won’t stop writing, and for that, I am really glad. She is a talented storyteller with a knack for tales that take place in another era. This time, she slipped us back to 1950s America, where women take to the field — the baseball field.
They were unladylike rebels, three young women abandoning rolling pins for baseball bats to join the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. They changed history and that changed them. After the league folds in 1954 Nola, Fran, and Evie meet by chance on a popcorn-scented summer day where it all began…Wrigley Field, Chicago. They team up once again to fight for a pivotal cause these dames can only win by uniting as one.
Inside these ball players lies a fierce beauty, an unconventional destiny beyond the kitchen. Foregoing the American dream of sparkling cars and pastel suburbia, together they face up to the reality of nuclear drills and civil rights. Their story is uncovered nearly forty years later when Jacks Demonte discovers a trail of clues tucked away in a vintage handbag. The extraordinary lives of these women intersect with Demonte’s as she falls deeper into a heroic past.
Neville Pitty-Rose is a brand-new author on the scene. He recently wrote a YA novel, Gods of the Green Moon. It is available on Amazon.co.uk.
However, he has begun to develop strange abilities – powers he doesn’t understand and can’t control. After a disastrous demonstration for his friends Seb lapses into a coma and he and his parents, Max and Martha, are kidnapped by a tall, bald man determined to test the boy’s increasing power and manipulate him to further his own agenda.
A group of strange wandering druids join forces with Isaac and together they set out to rescue Seb’s parents from the tall man and find Seb before time runs out and he is forced to put the tall man’s plan into action, which could have disastrous consequences for the entire planet – but is he working alone?
‘Gods of The Green Moon’ is a fast-paced fantasy action adventure story for young adults and grown-up young adults.
K.L. Schwengel has published the second book in her Darkness & Light Series, Emergence. Kathi is one of my oldest blogging buddies. (I don’t mean age-wise, just that we’ve been blogging with each other for almost three years — which is a long time in the blogging world, but I digress.) If you haven’t read her WIPpet posts, where she teases us with excerpts from her work, then you are missing out.
The battle for Ciara’s power has drawn the attention of the Emperor and the Imperial Mages, forcing Bolin to put duty above safety and take her to Nisair. It won’t be an easy trip, even with an Imperial escort and a Galysian elder accompanying them. Especially since Donovan has found himself some new allies, one of who wields a dark magic that has literally gotten under Bolin’s skin.
For Ciara, coming to terms with the increasingly tangible manifestation of her power could destroy her. Even if they make it to Nisair–something that grows more unlikely by the day–there is no surety of safety for Ciara, or any of them. Not with Donovan willing to gamble everything to achieve his goals, or Bolin’s uncharacteristically reckless behavior, the result of which is the attention of something that has everyone worried.
Loyalties will be tested, lives will be lost, and no one will emerge unchanged as they find things are not always so clear on the line dividing Darkness and Light.
D.G. Kaye is the author of Meno-What? a humorous memoir recounting her not-so-humorous dealings with menopause.
D.G. Kaye often writes about her personal experiences, matters of the heart, and women’s issues. She also writes blog posts on those same subjects as well as health issues and writing.
