Deadline for Dare to Write in 3 days!

Greetings Writers!

Holy cats, I can’t believe we’re closing in on the end of August. And you all know what that means . . . the deadline for the Dare to Write Writing Challenge is fast approaching!

So far I have received almost 15 submissions! I am so excited about the response. Seeing as how in this situation there is an “I” in TEAM, it will take me a little bit to go through all the submissions.

Here is just a sampling of what I am indulging in  . . .

A man finding love in unexpected places

A happily married couple enjoying the golden years

A memoir of a woman trying to understand the broken relationship with her mother

A wannabe cook

An uneasy father on the night of his daughter’s prom

Friends who will do anything for each other — even kill

A DEA agent who meets his match with a special needs teacher

A young girl on the hunt for her biological parents

A dog, a cat, and a parakeet — on the loose

A struggling hockey team

An 8-year-old spy and her dog

Teenagers covering up a murder

Superheroes vs. Aliens

A memoir of a soldier stationed in Iraq

Airplanes on strike

There is still time to get your submission in! Deadline is 11:59 p.m. August 26th. You can send me anything–a scene, a couple of chapters, an entire manuscript. I will read everything sent to me and offer you positive, encouraging feedback meant to help push you forward on your writing quest! Email me your submission to k [dot] johnston [at] comcast [dot] net

Anyone who submits a piece of writing is eligible to win a prize! Either a free copy of one of my ebooks or a coaching session designed specifically to YOUR needs!

That is all for now. I must get back to my summer reading!

Have a writerly day, y’all!

  1. Wow! That’s a great response, Kate! (And why wouldn’t it be? This is a fantastic challenge.) So many of these stories sound so interesting, too. 🙂 In fact, seeing all of those exciting taglines, I feel like I should send you something different, with more narrative oomph! to it. But, part of the process is sticking to our decisions, both from a writer and a story perspective, so, for better or worse, I’m just going to keep moving forward and wish you the best of luck with reading all of those submissions. 🙂

Give me your thoughts. Or your pizza. I'm not picky.
